Senior Principal Systems Engineer

The individual will develop conops, including use cases, for all aspects of development, integration, test, transition and operations to implement mission solutions for customer requirements. This individual will apply systems analysis and engineering techniques and procedures, including consulting with users, to determine hardware, software and/or system functional specifications to support the design, integration, test and implementation of the required systems and architectures.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Experience in supporting the full engineering life-cycle to include; the ability to work with customers to determine network requirements, write system requirement documents, and develop design solutions (physical and logical) that are in compliance with best engineering practices, standards, and guidelines, implementing and testing the solution to ensure compliance with customer requirements. 
  • Position requires strong system engineering perspective to support a customer team in technical coordination, risk assessment, progress tracking, and implementation trades. 
  • Interface with external organizations to identify lessons learned and alternative solutions
  • The design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing or modification of computer systems or networks, including prototypes, based on and related to user or system design specifications.
  • Supporting collaboration and communication between project teams and stakeholders across the customer organization
  • The design, documentation, testing, creation or modification of computer systems, network communication systems, and sensor systems/architectures to support prototypes, testing and evaluation.
  • Develop implementation and transition plans for mission applications
  • Maintains technical expertise in areas of communication systems, architectures, platforms, data applications and operations.
  • Evaluates and reports on new technologies to enhance capabilities of the existing and future architectures.
  • Ensures logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, cost constraints. Performs architecture, functional and timeline analysis, and detailed trade studies.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, demonstrated leadership ability.

Qualifications:

  • BS in applicable technical field. MS preferred.
  • Minimum of 20+ years recent experience in system or development, operations support, or other direct support to customer operations.
  • 15+ years sensor system integration, operations, and/or collection management experience
  • 12+ years of recent TCPED SE&I experience.
  • Experience applying SE processes, and detailed implementation planning of complex systems.
  • Recognized expert by both peers and customers.
  • Experience leading cross-functional integrated teams of mission, data, solution architects/engineers transforming operations and supporting collaboration.
  • Comprehends complex technical issues; defines problem in ways that clearly communicate to technical & non-technical staff; persuasively propose solution to meet customer mission need.
  • Able to work independently & within team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability/experience identifying/solving problems reviewing related information to develop/evaluate options and implement solutions with minimal supervision / direction.
